PELMAR ENGINEERING TO COORDINATE SALE OF MACHINERY OF FORMER DUNLOP NIGERIA PLC
Pelmar Engineering has announced that it is coordinating the sale of tyre manufacturing plant and machinery used by the former Dunlop Nigeria Plc. According to the company, the equipment is suitable for the manufacture of car, light van, truck and farm tyre of both radial and cross-ply construction. The machinery was reportedly used in the production of tyres for original equipments and for the replacement market until the end of 2008.
In 2004 Pelmar sold some of these equipment to Dunlop Nigeria Plc for installation in its truck radial factory. Speaking about some of the equipment, Hagai Peeled, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Pelmar referred to them as being “… completely reconditioned prior to installation and running in by the middle of 2005”. He added “The equipment is in excellent condition, hardly operated and offers our customers a rare opportunity to buy high quality equipment with the Pelmar assurance of quality.”
Dunlop Nigeria Plc ended local production on 31st December 2008, less than four years after the decision was taken to invest an estimated 6.5billion Naira (29.4 million pounds) on truck radialsing plant technology. The company, recently renamed DN Tyre & Rubber Plc, is now sole distributor of the Dunlop brand tyres which it imports from South Africa and Japan.
